The Banneker Building Project

By working closely with the owner on an open-book basis, Trident was able to perform historic renovations on The Banneker Building over a 10-month period.

This downtown location is very tight to operate logistically, and the three phases of renovations entailed complete interior demolition and construction of some areas, flood damage repairs, bathroom upgrades, and restoration of historic glass and wood doors, exterior brick and granite, as well as interior marble.

The project had to be executed to limit the impact to daytime operations of the building occupants, so the scope of work was structured, awarded, and executed in a task order methodology. Preconstruction planning helped to deliver success in the field; and not a single day of access for operations was lost during our efforts as projects operated like clockwork. We also suggested several creative design changes to allow the concept to be constructible which the original design didn’t permit.

The Banneker Building exemplifies how Trident is able to successfully plan and execute historic renovation projects with sophisticated finishes, in a logistically-challenging environment, and under immense time constraints.
